I can't be the only person who often hits PLAY when the screensaver is on to get back to the show I paused only to end up being brought to whatever annoying channel is on the advertisement floating across my screen at that moment!
So then I gotta get click back into the channel I was in, navigate back to my show... it's VERY annoying.
Simple solution: Roku should just change it so that in order to access whatever ad is on the screen saver you just hit the * button!
Simple, right?! If you agree, please contact ROKU (customersupport@roku.com) w/this super-simple fix to a really dumb/annoying thing they've done! (I swear, it's like they don't q/a anything!)
I've always thought they did this intentionally to rack up clicks on those ads.
That is my assumption as well. With interactive ads there are two main metrics: Views and Click throughs. You can improve your click throughs (and therefore the amount you charge) by making it hard not to click. 😀
I recommend the roku clock screen savers. No ads on them. Yet? - But they've been ad-free for years so far. Turning off the screen saver is another option. (Possibly not wise on an OLED, but OK for an LCD.)
But what good is a click, when it's accidental? It just annoys (potential) customers! But you may be right.
Those are good suggestions...but I love the screensavers with all of their movie references.
According to the company prez (who I wrote to about the Roku TV's problems with background blacks (which often look muddy)), if a lot of people write in about something, they DO change it. Like, when they started putting ads on the homepage as if they were channels, you couldn't remove those at first, but people complained and the option was added to the preferences.
