I buy physical media, and have a Roku TV. Now when a disc that I purchased is played, Roku has ads playing via HDMI. Is there a way to prevent this or will I just have to buy a new TV that isn't Roku or Roku enabled
There were rumors this would begin when Roku patented that technology but this is the first instance I have heard it being used. (Can you get a screenshot of it next time?)
I had assumed Roku would license this out to other manufacturers.
The only way around this ad technology is to use non-smart TVs, disconnect the TV from the internet when using your HDMI peripherals, or configure your network to prevent advertising.
