Roku channel picture quality is bad.

Jump to solution

The roku channels quality is just bad I get old shows will have low quality but this quality is just bad. Looks like it's in 240p. With no way to fix it as I'm using a roku tv so I can't just go to display type and change it. Like did I miss the option here it mentioned roku channel premium? Because I'd like to be able to make out the background and faces of people in shows. Searching online has yielded no results as no matter how I word my question it all just says setting display type which isn't an option on the tv.

Right now it's dog whisperer. But it does happen with other shows. Even the news which I'd assume would be in HD or FHD.

Signal strength is excellent at 74mbps which is about a 3rd of my total available download speed.

After a bit more watching it seems the quality is actually fluctuating so it's jumping from 480p to 240p. None of the shows seem to reach 720 or 1080. It also seems to be worse when going to a next episode or right before and after an ad. So with this issue I don't think a picture would help or really capture the whole issue.

Thanks for reporting this, @240pResolution!

You said the movie you were watching is "Dog Whisperer." Which season or episode had the picture quality issue? Also, have you tried connecting your Roku to a different internet connection?

We'll be able to verify and isolate the issue even more.

Please get back to us soon!

So far season one up to episode 6. As for other internet how do you expect me to accomplish that? Most house holds only have pay for one internet service so am I expected to pack my tv up and carry it to the nearest mc Donald's or Starbucks so I can test what ever you think might change?

You know this issue wouldn't be happening if you just had an option or setting built into the TV or app that allowed people to select what streaming quality they would prefer.
