MLB TV and compatible ROKU

Jump to solution

ROKU says my 3820 device is compatible with MLB TV.

MLB TV says it is not, and they won't troubleshoot any problems I occasionally have with a game feed as a result.

MLB TV streams fine on my ROKU - it has for a couple of years. However, occasionally there is a problem with a particular game feed. In this case, all the games stream fine except for the problematic one.

Any thoughts on how I can get MLB to play ball? It reminds me of the classic problem where the hardware company says it's a software problem and the software company says it's a hardware problem.

Anyone else using ROKU 3820 for MLB TV?

@atc98092-

I think it's just that MLB's supported device list needs to be brought up to date.  Those listed were released from October 2016 to October 2020.   @ScottCCC's 3820 was released September 2021.  NONE of the products in the product line are listed.

I marked that page as NOT HELPFUL and told them it was outdated.

I have a 3821 (same device as 3820 but supplied with a rechargeable Voice Remote Pro remote) and it works fine with MLB.

@ScottCCC-  If only the occasional game has problems, it's likely MLB just has a problem with that particular feed and there's nothing wrong at your end.

Here is what the MLB official site lists as supported Roku devices:

3700X, 3710X, 3800X, 3810X, 3811X, 3900X, 3910X, 3920X, 3921X, 3930X, 3931X, 4200X, 4210X, 4230X, 4620X, 4630X, 4640X, 4660X, 4662X, 4800X, 5000X, 6000X, 7000X, 8000X, A000X, C000X, C000GB, D000X

Notice the 3820 is specifically not listed, so they are correct that you can't use that device. If someone at Roku is saying different, they have bad information. I have no idea why such a new Roku player isn't supported, but it is what it is. But I also notice their list is missing the latest 4801/4802 Ultra players as well, so perhaps they themselves aren't maintaining their list of supported devices correctly.

It appears you have simply been fortunate that it worked as well as it has over the years.
