Oh no!! I’m having the same issue as everyone else, and I’ve been relying on Roku on three tvs in my household for years. Im so upset and defeated. I’ve tried everything with re starting Wi-Fi, re starting tv, updating the system, updating the Apps. I’m devastated. I’m hoping there is an error on many tvs like a bug that Roku is working on, otherwise I will have to look at new tv options immediately. I was supposed to watch the Oscars tonight but instead I can’t watch anything.
If you are real quick you can run out and buy a firestick and probably start the Oscars over.
Previously I posted that it was only happening on YouTube on my Roku 3 players where it would kick me out. It has not repeated that since I changed the HDMI cable over a month ago. However I did not realize that a lot of these issues were happening on Roku TV's which I do not have. But curiousity has me wondering what will happen if I upgrade and will I have the issues so many are having without any real resolutions?
You can bet your bootie it will
3/13/24 My 2017 Insignia Roku smart TV is suddenly doing something very stupid. It is now kicking me of all .. all .. apps every 6 minutes. (Yes, I actually timed it!) Ive tried the plug-unplug bit til I'm blue in the face & my net/WiFi has "excellent/strong" connections. Apparently, my TV does not have a "check apps" selection, so I am unable to clear individual app caches. I refuse to reset the TV to factory setting! I can't afford a new TV due to the quadrupled prices in this post-2022, post-COVID-greed-era. I hope I don't have to return to watching the same da*mn 40 dvds like I did when I had no WiFi service for 4 months last year! So, any rare, but effective, diagnostic & treatment suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks!
I really don't know what would cause this. But these things are just special purpose computers. Like their big brothers sometimes clearing things out by restarting them can correct problems.
Try restarting the set via this menu path:
Settings > System > Power > System restart
Note: On a Roku TV, if you have "Fast TV start" enabled, turning it off and back on just puts the set into and out of a standby state and does NOT give you a complete restart.
Search the web for the Roku "clear the cache" button sequence (it starts by pressing Home five times). They don't like for us to post the various "secret" button sequences here. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you're left with a factory reset or getting a separate device and connecting it to the TV. The latter may be the better option since a new device may perform better than the one embedded in your TV.
New to this forum. I have had some what a similar problem with a new Vizio Smart TV and the Homerun HD streaming app. Once I got a correct display on the TV after a LOT of other issues. Finally I thought I had it working and suddenly it goes back to the Roku home screen after a few minutes. It keeps on doing it. What I found after a lot of messing around on the Vizio is I turned the HDMI input to "Standard" mode and disabled CEC in the HDMI which effectively disables commands over the HDMI. Not sure if your TV's have these capabilities. Now everything is working - but on an older Express, the new one a just bought has issues I am hoping to see if some here can help with but that will be on another post.

Hi, and thank you for your message. I have a new 43inch Vizio smart tv. I purchased a new Roku Express Model 3960 to stream to the Vizio. I hooked it all up and all the apps on Roku worked Britbox, Netflix, Prime and all others I use EXCEPT HD Homerun. It displays in slow motion or buffering a lot, there is a lot of pixelation, and no audio. I checked the set up on my Android phone the HD app works fine and also works on two other Tvs in my home - but they have Roku model 3930 Express's on them - the HD app has worked on them for the last year with no issues and still work. I swapped the Model 3960 to another TV and put it's Model 3930 on the Vizio - the Vizio now works with the HD app. my other TV that now has the Model 3960 works with all apps EXCEPT HD app. So the problem seems to be with the new Model 3960 Express 3960 .
Second issue. After a few minutes of the Vizio TV running the HD app with the Model 3930 Express it would kick out to the Roku Hompage. Time to do this was not consistent usually a few minutes. I set the VIZIO HDMI port to which the Roku was plugged into to STANDARD setting in the Vizio setup menu and I set the CEC from enabled to DISABLED. That seems to have cured the erratic kicking out the home page. So my primary question is why doesn't HD Homerun work correctly with Model 3960 Express?
Model 3960 ver 5.2.2 build 4174-ED
Model 3930 ver 5.2.2 build 4174-AE
Hope this helps as I would like to have the HD app functional on all my Ruko units and currently I am reluctant to purchase another Express not confident it too will not have a problem.
Thanks for reaching out.
Joe
