Get smaller viewing screen with green on the screen

Have  Roku 3 Express, which recently started only showing a small viewing box of shows and rest of the screen is green. Seems to just vary at random times that it does this. May go a week and no issues with playback on a major network show and then small screen one day. Try again at a later time and playback of the exact same show will be normal?
