Audio from streaming movies is poor

Jump to solution

Using a home theater system. Streamed music through Roku is fine. However, the sound quality from streamed moves is deep and raspy especially from mature male voices. I have to switch to stereo mode and improves only slightly. Are movies streamed in Dolby 5.1 or just stereo?  Is music streamed 5.1 as it sounds great.

A warm greetings here in the Roku Community, @check1!

We appreciate you for reporting the audio issue with your Roku device.

If you haven't tried other troubleshooting steps, we recommend adjusting the audio Automatic Volume Leveling. This can help you hear more consistent audio levels while enjoying different types of entertainment, making it less jarring when a commercial comes on or when switching channels.

Another useful feature is the Night Mode, which can lower the volume level for louder scenes and boost it for quieter ones, allowing you to watch late-night TV without disturbing others. You can enable these volume modes from the options menu by pressing the Star button during video playback.

For further assistance, you can also read our detailed article on using volume modes with your Roku host device and wireless speakers.

We hope this information helps!

Best regards,
Jharra
