Spam in Private Messages

Hi everyone,

As of recently, we have noticed a high amount of spam reporting through private message (PM) in the Community. To combat this behavior, we have implemented two changes effective immediately:

  1. New users to the Community will be unable to readily send PMs after they've created their Community account.
  2. A captcha authentication will be required when sending another Community user a PM.
We understand that these changes may impact your interactions in the Community, but please be aware that our customer experience is our highest priority.

Danny, if at all possible you should exclude the new user restriction if they're attempting to PM an Roku employee. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how often a new user needs to send you a PM for something. Smiley Very Happy

Thats funny because I just got spam PM from someone who just signed up today. WHY don't you allow me to turn off private messages from other users?  I have never even been on this forum and I am getting email updates for spam messages.  Tighten your **bleep** up. WTF seriously.

Dear Danny

How a new user can start send PMs, this a matter our time or certain steps? Because, I'm a new member and a recent Roku costumer, and I'm facing issues with a remote control from a Streaming Stick+. I've tried every trick recommended here and even try with another device with no luck whatsoever (I know this is not the place to report this). Can you help indicante how a new community member can start send PMs?

Hello @RokuDanny-R ,

I have pm'd you before about the remote issue and was trying to follow up with you about this but the envelope icon has disappeared from my account and I see no way to currently respond to your previous pm's or send a new pm to you.

I did find this discussion on the form but the option to turn pm's on or off has been removed from settings page (see pic below). How can I continue our pm discussion of getting my remote to stop draining batteries?
