Re: OS 12.0 Coming Soon to Roku Devices

We are hoping any new versions are not bloated, slower and have a bunch of junk added that no one needs. That seems to be the trend with most software these days.

Leave it alone, just make it lean and tight code, bug-free and fast.

Wow, what an announcement! Any time in the next few 'months' could be ages! Can't even tell us which month.

Operating Systems are rolled out slowly on purpose.  A system bug could cause the entire Roku-verse to crash at once - not a good thing! Also the new operating system may act differently on different models, of which there are many. So slow and steady is the way to go.

Don't be anxious

Maybe the  "upgrade" will only do things like add viewing suggestions and take away the ability to customize menu options on home page. Upgrades are not always better.

Are we finally getting IPv6 support with this major release?

I can't say any of the new features listed so far are really exciting.

My bet is that it will just push us to install more channels and more show suggestions. Two thing i do not want.

The simplicity and non-clutter of the Roku Home screen is what people love and I bet we loose that soon.

So typical of all software and apps these days. Bloat and clutter always gets added

I'd personally like to see improvements in Audio as well as channel browsing. In addition, I notice most all the v11 builds to default at the Home button rather than where the user exited the previous day. I'm also hoping that Roku dev team makes channel developers aware of the updates in advance. Since v11.5 was released, the Netflix app lags when exiting which I'd never seen before.

Re: OS 12.0 Coming Soon to Roku Devices

I'd love to see an option added in the remote settings to completely disable the battery level pop up that appears in the upper right corner of the screen. It's a complete and total annoyance for many people who have issues with the battery level popping up when it isn't supposed to.

The paired Roku voice remotes are full of battery issues and it's tied to the onscreen pop up. Many times the batteries are fine but the pop up still spams your screen every time you press a button. There have been threads for this going back years and Roku still hasn't addressed it, so this would be a very useful option to add.

Which is exactly why I expect it to never happen because the people in charge at Roku are completely clueless and don't care about customer satisfaction.
