It will say invalid email format if you dont type it out and just click on the suggestion from your phone
I get the same problem, bought a new roku tv, had an old roku but have to change the email.
Logged in on old email just fine. have to change the email account but keep getting "The email address entered is already associated with an account. Please use another" error.
Which is true, I want to use that email account.

When you go into the account settings of your Roku device through Settings > System > About, are you using the same email of that which is shown?
