2nd TV - same Roku account?

Jump to solution

Got my first Roku yesterday for main TV, today getting second for other TV. Do I need to network these together ?  I assume I go through the same set up process. Anything else I need to take care of to maintain function ?

You can have multiple Roku devices on the same user account. There's no issue there. They have to be connected to your network, but that doesn't mean they are networked "together". What you do get is all the same channels on both Roku players. If you add a channel to one, it's added to the other. If you remove it from one, it's removed from the other.

Note that you can log into the providers with different credentials, so if person A has their own Netflix account from person B, they can both log into their own Netflix account on a player, even though both players are linked to the same Roku user account.

I have 2 TVs. I have a Roku device I purchased some years ago and one I purchased more recently. I have a regular email address and a professional email address. I recently discovered that each TV has a different email address. This became a problem when I signed up and paid money for Britbox and it only works on the TV I used when I was signing up for it. Britbox allows multiple devices. How do I get all my Roku to be based on a single email address? It won't let me change one email to the other because the other email is already in use! How do I even call Roku Support to fix this?

I don't believe you can merge the accounts. Apple is the same way. I have an iTunes account for my work phone and my personal phone. I can't move my work purchases to my personal account.

There's only one way to change the account that a Roku device is attached to, and that's to do a factory reset. You can then set it up on the desired account. But again you won't be able to move a channel purchased on the old account to the new one. Fortunately, few if any channels actually cost money. There's no problem using the same login for any paid subscriptions on the new device, such as Netflix or Prime Video.

Call your bank dispute the charges cancel your card here are some numbers I found.

Roku Customer service numbers text [removed]

phone  [removed]

Roku does not have a toll free phone number, so I place no faith in that second number. And the first number is located in Wisconsin. Roku is located in the San Francisco bay area, so I don't trust that first number either. Are you attempting to mislead users and send them to a scam support center?

No idea. But I don't think those phone numbers are valid.
