I am just trying to find out if others are being charged. I am going to unsubscribe .

If I wanted to pay money I would have cable.

The Roku is free. There are some channels like Netflix that require a subscription, but many, if not most channels on Roku are free. Did you call a 1-800  number from the Internet when you set it up?

If so, it is a scam.  Call your credit card company, report it and stop payments.

Look at your bill. What is the name of the company shown that is billing you?

That's not Roku scamming you. It's a scam artist unconnected with Roku.

Re: monthly charges being charged 21.99 for a service that is supposed to be free

Asking whether Roku is free is like asking whether TV is free.  After you pay for a TV, you can watch some stuff for free (usually with commercials).  This stuff typically comes over the air, or possibly you hook up to some community/building/university cable system.  However, you can also connect it to commercial cable, satellite etc. and likely be paying monthly.  Roku is basically the same.  A lot of stuff (most I think) is free (usually with commercials) but some stuff is paid/subscription.  Without naming what you're getting, no one will have any idea of what your monthly charge (if any) should be.  It's worth checking the fee structure (if any) of any channel before you add it.

And, yes, it is possible to call "some guy" on the phone and have him set up your Roku, and he'll charge you whatever he wants to do something that you can do yourself for free.  No one in this thread has said that they actually did that but it can happen.  Neither of the posters have really given any details so you just get "general possibilities" as responses.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.
If you are being charged monthly, we would recommend checking to see if you are subscribed to a channel by logging into your Roku account online. For more information about how to check to see if you have a subscription, visit our Support page here: How do I unsubscribe or cancel my subscription?
