Awhile ago i lost the remote to my roku and it has yet to pop up again. at first it wasn’t a problem because netflix, youtube(etc.) were already connected. one day i came home to a completely reset device and the only app i had was to turn it off. a friend suggested i use the app so i could get it back and use my tv again. but i don’t know the correct account password to use for my device and i’m no longer in contact(or wish to have contact) with my dad who set it up. i can’t find a way to change the account linked to my device and the remote connected with it
You didnt mention the Roku model name/#.
You will need need to Factory Reset it if you want to use a new account with it, and after the Factory Reset you'll need a remote to activate it.
For non-stick models, any IR-only universal/Roku pre-programmed remote should work, which you can get at Walmart/Best Buy/Amazon/etc for $5-15.
For stick models you'll need an official remote, either the $20 Voice Remote (RCAL7R) or $30 Voice Remote Pro (RCS01R) can be used, and can be obtained from Roku.com/Walmart/Best Buy/Amazon/etc.
To Factory Reset it - turn it on, and hold the reset button for at least 30 seconds (45 is better).
Then create a new Roku account using your email address, and use that email for activation.
Considering you can get a new Roku Express 4K+ for $30-40, it might make more sense to buy that instead (depending on the model # that you have).
