I had originally used PayPal for my account setup. I want to change to using a card and remove PayPal. I have added the card, but when I click on PayPal and select remove payment method, it removes the card instead. I have tried this 4 times now, 3 last night and once just before posting. I am selecting PayPal and clicking remove payment. Do I have to wait longer for the card to be accepted into my account? I have not paid for anything thru Roku. I subscribed to YouTube TV on my computer before I purchaced the Streaming Stick +
It's not necessary to have a payment method attached to your Roku account. If you don't plan on purchasing or subscribing to anything through Roku just remove Paypal without adding a card. Or, remove Paypal before you add the card.
Then Why did they ask for a payment method? I still can't remove PayPal from my account. There is no option.
They ask for it to encourage you to purchase things through them for which they get a cut. There's a not very obvious way to opt-out when you first set up a Roku account. I don't know why you can't remove PayPal; I've only every used credit cards. I wonder if you could remove it or block purchases from the PayPal side of things. Make sure you add a PIN to your Roku account to prevent inadvertent purchases.
Thanks for the inquiry.
