Hi @C_I

Thanks for the post.

For account & billing concerns, it may be more effective to get help from our Billing team. You can contact them here: support.roku.com/contactus then choose 'Questions about my account or billing' on the drop-down menu. They are the best ones to help you out with that matter.

All the best,
Kariza

Some stuff on Roku is free.  Other stuff is not.

What are you being charged for?  ie: does the charge actually say: "Free" Roku?  or does it say something more like: Roku for CBS.

So I just use and pay Acorn TV and have to pay Roku for using their streaming device even though I don't watch it?

No, Roku does not charge for using its system.  The only charges are for subscriptions to channels that require payments and to which you have subscribed through Roku, and movie and pay-per-view purchases.

Scammers can call their charges anything they like.  If a charge says it's from Roku, that does not necessarily mean it actually came from Roku.   If you are being charged for things you don't recognize then protest them with the financial institution through which you are being charged.  They can trace them back to their actual origin.

@carlisle401, there's two ways to watch Acorn TV - one is via the stand-alone Acorn channel/app (for subscriptions directly through Acorn) and the other is through The Roku Channel (with a subscription paid through Roku).  You may have unwittingly started a Roku-paid subscription if you tried watching through The Roku Channel.

Check your paid through Roku subscriptions at https://my.roku.com/account/subscriptions .  Do you see the Acorn subscription there?

Seriously, I’m about to throw this garbage out and get something that won’t charge me nearly $9 for nothing. This isn’t HBO, Hulu, crunchy, Funimation or Disney etc. It’s an $8.47 charge for just “roku” which is supposed to be free once you purchase the actual device. I’ve been getting this charge for almost a year now and can never get in contact with them. Makes me feel like this company is shady and I’m done. I’d rather pay for an Amazon stick or something and know what I’m paying for. I and others should be refunded and apologized to- there’s still a pandemic going on indefinitely, who has the time/energy or money to be charged for absolutely nothing.

@Theak410 read the posts above. If you are not subscribing to a service through Roku, then you are not being billed by Roku, regardless of what it says on your CC bill. Log into your Roku user account (https://my.roku.com) and look under subscriptions. If there's nothing there, Roku is NOT billing you. If this is the case, someone is scamming you, and it's not Roku. As mentioned already, billers can make the pay line read whatever they want, so scammers make it look like a charge from Roku. You need to dispute the charge with your CC company and get it reversed.
