Upgrades Replacement or Additional Device

I’m confused about Roku upgrade offers. Recently got one for my current Roku Express which is about 4 years old. Does purchasing the upgrade mean my old Express will no longer function (it works just fine now) or can I make the purchase and use it and my older model? Also the upgrade offer pictures the remote with it so will I get a new device and a new remote?

Re: Upgrades Replacement or Additional Device

No, adding a new Roku to your user account does not affect your existing player(s). Roku often offers upgrades to users, but their existing devices will still work as they currently do. Of course, as devices age they become less capable of working with newer channels, often not supported at all by some channels. But the devices themselves are still usable.

Years ago I received an offer to upgrade to the new Roku 4, which I did. But my old 2 XS players still worked (and still do, except they simply can't work with some channels any longer). Same when I upgraded from my 4 to my first Ultra. My 4 is still in use by my granddaughter.
