Unauthorized subscriptions

I continue to get "free" trials for subscriptions added to my account without my previous authorization.

The first clue I get is the 1.00 pending charge on my credit card. then I have to go online, find the subscription and cancel it. Once I didn't check in time, and I was charged for a month. I had to call customer support to get it credited.  Roku did refund the money, but it is a hassle.

Customer support suggested I add a pin number to keep purchases from happening without that additional step. I did that, and a month later, along comes another charge.

Is this happening to everyone? If so, do we need to enlist the Federal Trade Commission to stop this practice?

Re: Unauthorized subscriptions

Log into your account at https://my.roku.com and check the devices linked to your account.  If there's any you don't recognize, remove them.  If you have, or have ever had, multiple Roku devices, you may have multiple Roku account.  If you do, check each account.

Re: Unauthorized subscriptions

The $1.00 charge is a temporary/test charge to make sure you have a valid credit card/bank card.

In addition, to Renojim's advice and Roku's advice to add a pin, I would also change your password to your device and/or email accounts as you may have been hacked.

I would also report those charges to your bank/credit card company so that they can help prevent those charges.
