How do I know if I’m going to be charged for something I added the Roku channel and it asked for my pin no but said it was free it’s confusing

@Lfish, you can set up a PIN on your Roku account at https://my.roku.com to be required for purchases and/or to install apps. You may have it set up for both. "The Roku Channel" is free to install (as are most apps), but there is a lot of "premium" content that requires various subscriptions. When a payment is required, the screen where you enter your PIN should show "RokuPay" at the top and should clearly show a description of the subscription and the amount.
To be honest, the best way to avoid inadvertently making a purchase is to remove the payment method from your Roku account. Of course this isn't possible if you've already subscribed to something through Roku (as opposed to taking out a subscription directly with a provider) and isn't an option if you do ever plan on subscribing to something through Roku.
