Roku Account and logged in Subscriptions

Jump to solution

Someone logged into my Roku tv with their Roku account without me knowing. I had logged in to all of my subscriptions (Netflix, Hulu, HBO max, etc) not knowing it was their Roku account logged in. So are all of my streaming services saved if they use their Roku account on a different device? Planning to do a complete factory reset of my Roku device so I can change Roku accounts. But I don’t want them streaming my subscriptions.

No, logins stay local to device and don't get uploaded to online roku account.

Factory reset and relink to your current online account and start again

There is someone visiting here and they setup HBO MAX with their own account. There must be a better method to remove his account so I can add mine, rather than resetting the box. Support agent said to go to the app and logout. There was no such button to do that.

@bh123wa, are you sure there's no option to log out?  Admittedly, I'm not signed in to HBO, but if I press the left arrow button a menu appears.  There's an icon that looks like a person.  If I select it I get the option to sign in.  I'm assuming if I was signed in I'd get the option to sign out.

Edit Profiles has an outline of a head, but pressing the left arrow just takes me back a step. I am thinking, although is seems unlikely, the app is buggy. Calling Roku for help get me nowhere. I tried what they suggested and ip.

@bh123wa, by "left arrow" I don't mean the Back button at the top of the remote that has left arrow diagram on it.  I mean the left arrow from the four directional arrow buttons.  You may have to select the profile first.

Thank you for your assistance. I ended up talking with someone else @ Roku. In order the have the account holder of the app removed, I needed to reset the device back to factory, where I lost everything, and then create a new email account when logging in. This will then drop the old information.

Seems like a poor method, rather than just change the name of the individual holding access to that app.

@bh123wa Try this:  Open the HBO Max app and click on the profile of whoever is listed.  Using the left arrow go to the left: then go to the bottom where is says settings:  select settings:  Use the right arrow on the list at the very top of the page and move to the far right off the original screen and you should have an option to sign out.
