Trying to downgrade my Paramount+ subscription from the commercial free version to the one with commercials.

Subscribed via Roku, all I see in my account is cancel, which I do not want to do. When I tried that, it just canceled, had no option to activate the lower tier. 

Tried to submit a request to customer service for help, all I got was "error submitting your request", so I'm here.

How do I downgrade without canceling?

Go ahead and cancel it through Roku. Then go to the Paramount+ web site and sign up there. You have found yet another reason not to subscribe through 3rd parties.

Makes sense. Thought I was just missing some obvious option somewhere.

Note that canceling most such services just prevents the service from auto-renewing at the end of your current subscription period.  Few if any will cancel immediately and refund the unused portion of the subscription to you.  If you then establish a new subscription before the old one runs out, this means you're paying double.  This may not be that big a deal if you're you're currently paying monthly, but if you have an annual subscription with a lot of months yet to run, you might want to wait until it expires before setting up the new account.
