I signed up for HBO Max using Roku but should have used Spectrum. Since Roku has billed for one month and stayed usable for that month I can't sign up with Spectrum

Every streaming subscription with which I am familiar, either through a third party like Roku or directly with the channel, is nonrefundable. You are pre-paying for a specified subscription period and it auto renews when that period runs out. When you cancel the subscription it prevents the auto-renewal but the subscription stays in force until the balance of the pre-paid period expires. These conditions are explained on screen and must be accepted when subscribing (you know, all that stuff you don't bother to read at the time.).
Yes, I'm sure you're right. As we all know, there are pages and pages of terms which almost no one has the patience to read - and even if I'd read it, I don't think it would have made a difference. Despite the documented legalities, I've found that some companies will be sympathetic to a situation like this, and others won't.
I'll sign up through Spectrum once the first month is over. No problem.
