Hi @Q4b4dc, thank you for reaching out to us in the Roku Community! We see you're referencing a post earlier in the thread that mentioned canceling all your subscriptions to remove a method of payment. To add clarity to this, you would only have to cancel all your subscriptions if you completely removed any method of payment from your Roku device. If you prefer not to have a card on file and just enjoy free content, you will be asked to cancel all subscriptions, as there won't be any information to bill. If you are switching your method of payment, this won't be required. If you have any other questions about this, please let us know!
My credit card shows up as a payment method, as well as Paypal. However, when I try to delete the PayPal method, I get this message:
Remove payment method
By proceeding there will no longer be a payment method associated with your Roku account.
You will not be able to make purchases without a payment method. Additionally, some service providers require a payment method on file in order to play previously purchased or rented content.
How is this possible with a credit card as the other method?
@Q4b4dc, how do you have multiple payment methods? I thought it was Paypal or a credit card. I don't think you really have Paypal set up. If I look at my account it shows my credit card and Paypal as choices. I don't have Paypal set up as a payment method, although when I choose Paypal it still shows "Remove payment method". I'm pretty sure that would just remove my credit card.
It has been paying with PayPal for years, but I'm closing my PayPal account (they're useless), but after entering credit card info and then trying to delete PayPal, I get the message that I have to cancel my subscriptions.
Again, if I can't just switch payment methods without cancelling my subscriptions, I will NOT spend any more money through ROKU.
Hi @Q4b4dc, we can see how that is confusing. We'll be reaching out to you directly in order to cover additional details and address your concern about the different payment methods on your account. Please keep an eye out in your inbox for a message from us so that we can help you out!
