Which sound system is compatible with streaming devices

Hi, I want to use  wireless (wifi or bluetooth) bookshelf speakers for my audio instead of the TV audio, and want it to connect to my roku remote. Currently, I have the LG TV with Streaming Stick 4K. Would it be easier to upgrade to Ultra and use an optical output---any advice appreciated. I would also like to stream my music to the speakers (that with a different remote I guess)
