what is going on with the remote without volume control? No brain

Who came up with the idea of a remote without volume control? How am I about to turn on, off or mute? I have an obsolete remote and no way to turn on or off the volume. Can someone explain this to me? I bought three ROKUs and now I'll have to return it. So much for easy...

    smorgenstein, only the least expensive Roku device comes with a remote with no volume controls.  That's one of the reasons it's the least expensive Roku device.  In case you didn't know, you can't control the volume coming out of the Roku device itself - you can only control the volume of the TV.
