Was prompted to re-pair my smart remote for my Roku tv, now it won’t connect at all

Was prompted to re-pair my remote to “save battery” my remote was then unpaired and now will not pair again. I’ve tried holding the pairing button down, power cycled my tv and tried to pair again, tried doing this all with the remote right next to the tv.

Roku clearly didn’t stress test this function enough and now my remote only powers the TV on and off.

    Greetings from the Roku Community!

Thanks for reaching out, and we'd like to help you out. Could you share with us the device serial number where the remote is paired? We'll be able to assist you further.

    Thanks,

Update, TCL was able to help resolve this if anyone else runs into this issue. The remote needed to be reset itself. From their support:

Let us try to clear before pairing. Please unplug your TCL Roku TV from the power source while we are working for the remote.
Now please press the home button, arrow down button, and pairing button altogether for 6 seconds then release. After 3 seconds from the releasing, please remove the batteries from the TCL Roku TV remote. Press the OK button without the batteries on for a minute to drain excess power.

After that, plug the TCL Roku TV to the power source then once you see the Roku interface, put the batteries back to the remote and press the pairing button inside the battery compartment only for 6 seconds. Wait for about a minute then try to press any buttons if you can now navigate with the remote.”

Only note I have is that the tv did not power on on its own for me. I used the app remote to power on the TV and then the pairing worked.
