I had this same problem and then I decided to pry the remote open and unplug the battery from the chipset entirely.. I unplugged it and replugged it a few times and a few of those times I plugged the charger in just to see what would pop up on the screen. After a few times of doing this it actually started to charge again. I'm not even sure what the problem was.. maybe there was some dirt in the 3pin connector for the battery.. maybe the pins popped out and weren't seated correctly after the remote had taken some abuse..
I'm not sure. I would guess the last one though. I guess it makes sense that the pins could pop out. There's really nothing holding them in place besides friction. By that I mean there's no clip to hold the connection down. If anyone tries this and it works, let me know!

I see many more people with this same issue but it seems no one has tried this trick. After doing this mine works completely fine now. If any of you are a bit handy and can use a screwdriver and get into the remote (as absolutely ridiculous that is) to fix it, I sincerely hope you try it and it works for you as well. Let me know how it goes!

I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. ONLY TIME IT WORKS NOW IS WHEN IT IS PLUGGED INTO WALL! Did work great but not anymore!

My roku pro just died again. Had a full charge and 30 minutes later charge was DEAD. Like you I have to keep it plugged in for it to work. I am demanding a new one.

Hi Seshultz55,
Thanks for your post.
We're here to help. When you attempted to charge your voice remote do you see a light flashing at the back? If the status light does not begin to flash within a few seconds, try an alternate charging cable and power adaptor. Remember to use the Roku-provided micro-USB cable that came with your voice remote for the best results. If you are still having issues, please restart your device and try again.
Still no dice? Please provide the serial number of your Roku device paired to your Roku remote from Settings > System > About. So we can assist you further.

I've been having trouble with my remote keeping charge, but last night, it quit working even when it was plugged into the wall. I finally unplugged it and had to use my tv remote to turn off my tv. This morning I decided to give it a try, it turned tv on and I asked about the charge and it said 100%! I just tried it again at 3:30 pm, and it says it is 99%. I ordered a replacement on Roku site last night, almost wishing I hadn't now, but I'm wondering if you could possibly know why I would have that issue, works, doesn't work, sometimes, etc? I used the chord that was sent with it for charging. Mainly, my bedroom tv (it is hooked to) is used only in the evenings. To RokuNlmfa-C, yes, it does flash green light as soon as I plug it in. Thank you for responding.

Same here and cord is short. Roku needs to fix this. Try a diffrent usb wall plug in.
