Voice Remote Microphone Button Doesn’t Work on TCL Roku TV
Hi there,
Here are the details:
- TV Model: TCL 50S451 (4-Series)
- Hardware ID: G134X
- Serial Number: X01200EEGC65
- Software Version: 14.5
- Device ID: S0JPD3AEGC65
I’ve tried using multiple Roku voice remotes with this TV (including two different Voice Remote Pro 2nd Gen units and a backup voice remote), and the microphone button has never worked on any of them. No voice commands are registered when I hold the mic button and speak. However, all other functions on the remotes work fine.
What’s interesting is that the “Hey Roku, where’s the remote?” hands-free command does work — the remote hears me and successfully plays the sound. That tells me the microphone on the remote itself is working.
For comparison:
I also have an older Roku TV with a first-gen voice remote, and the mic button works perfectly on that TV — so I don’t believe it’s a user error or defective hardware issue.
So I’m wondering:
- Does the TCL 50S451 support push-to-talk voice commands via the mic button?
- Is it normal for “Hey Roku” hands-free features to work, but not the button-activated voice search?
- If this is a hardware or firmware limitation of the 4-Series, is there any known workaround besides using a separate Roku streaming device?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
