Using rv connections for park cable

How in the world did Roku get so complicated when using the park cable. Why does one have to bipass the rv connections ( which was an easy deal when switching from over the air to park cable? Now as I understand the way is to have a long enough coaxial cable from the cable input to the back of the Roku tv. And therefore bypassing the rv connections.
