Using a Universal Remote to Launch Specific App

My 91-year old aunt seemingly presses roku buttons randomly until she sees a show to watch that she likes.  She's inadvertently installed over 150 apps so far, including a North Korean propaganda app :).  I cleaned them up once, but gave up when she did it a second time.  Also, she can't remember button sequences or how to navigate app interfaces.

I bought a Sofabaton programmable universal remote to hopefully replace the roku remote.  For example, I can program the #1 key on the remote's keypad to mimic a keystroke sequence such as "home, home, right, down, ok" in order to launch the first app on the screen.  Has anybody found an easier way to make it so that a person just needs to press 1 key to launch a specific app?

BTW: I also tried Alexa. It's a no-go.

    You might want to add a PIN to the account at https://my.roku.com so that channels can't be added without entering the PIN.  The Voice Remote Pro has two buttons that can be programed to launch any channel or you can use your voice to launch a channel.  There are also those four buttons on all new remotes that launch specific channels and can't be changed, but there's a slew of these "partner buttons" that I believe could be programmed into a universal remote.  Tivoburkee would probably know more about that.

      Only universal remotes from UEI under such brands as One-For-All, Inteset, Insignia, and Onn will give access to discrete channels via the use of advanced codes or EFC's which are 5-digit codes for individual functions. Some include:
