Unresponsive remote. Please help!

Hi our remote is not responding at all. It’s a simple remote, no flashing at all. Dead. Batteries changed and nothing. Tried all the internet things, unplugging trying to troubleshoot, it is just dead. Help? Kids wanted to watch Xmas movie:(
