Ultra LT keeps cutting off at setup

I bought an ultra LT model, and after the initial set up, every time I turn it on, the logo pops up and dances on the screen for about three seconds, then it completely drops the signal to the TV. If I hit the reset button the same thing happens. I’ve tried multiple TVs, multiple HDMI ports and cables, and multiple power outlets. If I do a hard reboot on the box by holding down the reset button, it allows me to go through the set up process of pairing the remote, choosing a language, Connecting to the Internet, and then it says downloading. The software is already updated all the way. The issue is once again at this point it cuts off. I’m only able to get that far when I do a hard reset by holding the button down. But it cuts out at the exact same time every single time. I then went and bought an ultra model  (not the LT) and the very same thing is happening. Is there something I’m missing?

  • sorry to say, I have same problem on older ultra , it started happening about 9 mo ago...all goes well then freezes or restarts, sometimes have to unplug and plug...I have done everything but factory restart. Contacted Roku and (thought) I was getting support and then they stopped and never helped me one bit...I was going to buy newest Ultra, but have heard it has lots of bugs also...I have always used Roku and my Roku express 4k is fantastic and fast on smaller TV, no issues ever...I just like the lightning fast ultra, but as I speak, my tv has went off or froze 3 x in 1 hr...going to be a long day. No wonder they are trying to sell the newer Roku Ultra on (sale) price.?? I have also read that there is so much room for speed on these things, they are using old technology on Ultras...WTH...just think if they would update to newer technology.....

      We understand that you're also having issues with the Roku Ultra. 

      Can you share more info about this? 

      • What specific model of Roku Ultra is affected?
      • Does freezing happen on all channels or only on a specific one?
      • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? 

       

      In the meantime, please make sure to perform a software update on your Roku Ultra and see if there are any changes.

    Thanks for sharing your issue with the Roku Ultra. We'd like to take a closer look at it.

    Have you tried using another TV with the new Roku Ultra? Please ensure that the power cable is plugged directly into the main power socket. Additionally, we'd like to know the model of the new Roku Ultra that you have.
