tv suddenly not detecting consoles

Three days ago I was able to play the nintendo switch on my tv. Now all of a sudden it's saying no signal. I go to my xbox one, it says no signal. I tried unplugging it and holding the power button on the remote for thirty seconds, nothing changed. I switched the hdmi slots and it still doesn't work. It was working perfectly fine and now all of a sudden NOTHING works.

    TalipedMantis,

Thank you for sharing your post in the Roku Community!

We appreciate you for contacting us about connecting a game console to your Roku TV. We're here to help you with this process and ensure you have a great gaming experience!

If you are setting up a game console on your Roku TV, you can use Automatic Game Console Configuration to achieve optimal gameplay settings with little effort. In addition to supported features being configured automatically, the appearance of the generic input tile you see on your Home screen will be modified with a name and image that matches your game console, making it obvious where to go when you want to play video games.

Are you using the HDMI ARC port on your TV? - If so, check the TV settings and make sure ARC and related features are enabled.

If you are experiencing an issue with a Roku-branded TV (Roku TV Select or Roku TV Plus), feel free to contact Roku Support.

If you're encountering an issue with your Roku TV manufactured by a Roku partner, start by contacting the manufacturer. Each TV manufacturer provides direct support for its models.

For support regarding Roku TVs, please visit our support page: Where can I get support for my Roku TV™?

Have any other questions? Don't hesitate to let us know.

    cheers,
    Arjiemar

      Hi Heartlikecoffee,

      Thank you for posting.

Have you tried the suggested fix by RokuJohnB? Changing the HDMI cable would most likely sort out this concern so we highly recommend trying it.

Please let us know what you find out.

      Regards,
      Janadee

Hey! I had this issue and tried what I thought was everything for me! I unplugged my TV for almost an hr, and I just hooked it up and its back diaplaying my XBOX console. I have an Onn Roku Tv.

  • FIXED - We just had same issue. We've been using the Nintendo Switch on this Roku TV for years now - was working fine last night, today it says no signal - is it on? It clearly is on. Spent over an hour trying different hdmi cables, swapping ports around, turning off and back on, unplugging everything. What finally worked was updating the Switch itself. System Settings > System > System Update. (You'll need to be connected to internet for it to update). Someone else said that they fixed it by updating their Roku TV. One other thing to note - after moving the hdmi to another port, the TV now shows 2 different Switch icons on the home screen. After you update, make sure you try both if you have this - for us one of them works but one of them doesn't. I'm scared to unplug it to change back to the original port now that I finally got it working 🤣.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hi scott22,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!
We will be more than delighted to assist you further with this problem that you're having with the Roku TV. Please disconnect the HDMI cable from your source device and the TV and then reconnect, making sure the connection is secure. If the issue continues, try using a different or new HDMI cable. Connect your source device to a different HDMI port on your TV, and then change the TV input to match the port used.

Let us know how it works.

    All the best,

    John

We were just experiencing the same issue. Was able to play Nintendo last night on Roku tv. Then today no image but only audio. We tried changing cables and ports. No luck. We verified that Switch with the same cable was working well with our screen monitor. So it's the TV's problem. We eventually restart Roku system and it's good now.

Settings -> System -> Power -> Restart system

  • I’m experiencing the same thing, switched hdmi cords and ports multiple times. It was working just fine the night before. I have a Onn. Roku tv and I’m having trouble with it saying “no signal” when trying to play on my play station. It detects that it’s there when trying to remove the channel from my Home Screen and my PlayStation is turning on just won’t pop up on the screen for some reason

Yea same for me, My Xbox has been streaming to my tv for almost 2 years and just now it’s acting like my Xbox isn’t even on even though it is, i don’t know if it’s my Xbox or my TV or My HDMI cord but it’s just so weird

Its a Hisense Roku TV and I’m trying to connect it to a Xbox Series S console

  • Factory reset the TV.

    Home button 5 times

    Fast forward button 3 times

    Rewind button twice

If that doesn't work settings > system > advanced system settings > factory reset
