Tv keeps shutting off and restarting

I purchased my onn Roku smart tv from Walmart one week ago. It’s been freezing and shutting off and restarting is there any reason why it would do that?

  • Hi Kweik247 and Mikkib,

Thank you for reporting this issue to the Roku Community!

We understand that you're having issues with your Roku device constantly rebooting. We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue.

We recommend giving the following troubleshooting steps a try:

    1. Power-cycle your Roku player: unplug it from the wall power outlet and plug it back in.
    2. Check for updates. Go to Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now
    3. Restart your Roku player. Go to Settings > System > Power (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step) > System Restart.
    4. Last resort, factory reset: Go to Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Factory Reset.

If the issue is persistent after doing so, please provide us with this information:

    • Roku device or TV model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About).

We're anticipating your response regarding this.

    All the best,
    Janadee

  • Welcome to the Roku Community, Mrs_S.

Thanks for letting us know about the trouble you've encountered on your Roku TV and the steps you took to resolve it.

Can you provide us with a screenshot of the issue you are experiencing?

In this case, we recommend performing a factory reset on your Roku TV that may resolve the issue you are experiencing. Please note that resetting a Roku device erases all its settings, apps, and account data, essentially returning it to factory conditions.

You can follow the steps below to perform a factory using the physical button on your Roku TV.

    1. Locate the reset button on your Roku device, which is usually on the back or bottom. The physical Reset button is either tactile or has a pinhole design that requires a straightened paper clip.

    2. Ensure your Roku TV is powered on.

    3. Press and hold the reset button for exactly 10 seconds.

    4. Watch for a fast-blinking light, indicating that the reset is in progress.

    5. Once the light blinks at a normal rate, release the button.

After a successful factory reset, your Roku device will restart in the same state as a factory-new device.

Please keep us posted regarding the behavior you are experiencing, and we will be more than happy to continue assisting you further.

    All the best,
    Chel

      Hey everyone,

We'd like to learn more about your issue.

Can you please tell us the behavior of the Roku TVs? Does it occur during start-up, when you're on the Roku Home screen, or during streaming?

      Looking forward to your response.

Our tv just keeps on restarting in all the situations includes

        1. when we turn on the TV

        2. When we are on the Home Screen

        3. Even when we are streaming/watching content.

and restart time is not fixed, sometime it restart in 2 min sometime in 4. Its really annoying and disturbing
