Sorry for the repost, but it to defaulted to the player forum instead of the TV forum.Within the last month, my Roku TV guide has started displaying a "category" bar to the left of the channels.I used to just scroll to the OTA or Roku streaming channel I wanted. Now EVERYTHING is a mess, because all the channels are out of order, as they are lumped into genre or category. Even when I select "all channels", it will scroll through all the categories, one at a time.I don't want to see favorites, recent, news, sports, movies, entertainment, kids &family, music, or crime.I'd like to go back to where I only see Roku and OTA, but there seems to be no way to turn off the categories. Any hints? Scoured the internet, but found no useful settings for my ONN tv.

Hey,
I have a TCL tv with built in Roku, 11.0.0 build 4193-48. I have a coax external antenna that I use for “Live TV” over the air TV.

The updates over the last year or two keep screwing with the guide. Before the latest update, when starting the “Live TV” channel the guide would default to my favorite channels, no wasting time and remote clicks to get to what I want.

Now with the latest update I have to click to the left to choose favorites and then back to the guide. I was wondering if anyone knew a workaround to just have my favorite stations on my guide at all times? Tired of having to wade through useless digital stations to get to the station I want.

  i figured it was something hidden like updates and such. I AM WITH frink ON THIS. why, o why would someone replace the channels you have gone through and allllll the trouble to identify as MY favorite stations to watch disregard my preferences with having to even see alllllllllllllll channels. it actually turns my stomach and makes me feel nauseous. WHY? O WHY?
  
  now lets imagine one left clicks and THEN choose to see what i've already deemed as favorite (WHICH IS ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL I WANT TO SEEEEEEEEEEE) somewhere roku programming does not include all what you have previously deemed to be favorite (would we all agree there is approx 700 channels through to ORIGINALLY select favorites).

    I would LOVE for it to go back to just the 2 categories, and you never see the favorites category until you add some. Unfortunately they've added another 10 categories on my TV, making it impossible to smoothly scroll through OTA and Roku Streaming, to see what's on when your show is a rerun.

  I have not had that issue with my TCL TVs until today. They had changed the guide to add a menu to the left side, then removed it. Now I have to select favorites each time I restart the TV.

    this is making me crazy. now they changed it AGAIN to where now it just shows all channels and there is no where in any of the settings to make it go back to favorites. what is wrong with the people doing this omfg

The filter option is missing on my TCL 65". I can't filter the channels to view only my favorites. I can select my favorite channels but I can't set up the TV to view only my favorites. My choices are... Unfavorite this channel, hide this channel, manage channels and close. Where is the filter option?????????????????????????

  The same happened to us. No filter option. The guide reverts to “All Channels” every time we change channels.

    We hid all the channels that were not favorites so they no longer appear in the all channels list. My thumb is sore from hiding all these channels. Why did Roku do this to us?!

  Same just happened to me today 8/24/2022.it really sukx. I'm not sure why they randomly f up. Because I'm convinced to not let my eggs in one basket anymore with Roku. Best to have other streaming sticks for back up.
  So I'll just have to do 3 extra steps everytime I change a channel
  So another solution is to unfavorite all their bull **bleep** channels and only favorite my OTA antenna channels.
  So in essence they're forcing some to eleminated anyone wanting to favorite ANY of their preprogrammed all channel bull poop.
  So I can then just use the new guide interface they're randomly activating, to skim through their ALL CHANNEL LINE UP. Junky setup, ugh what are they thinking.
  I and many will just not watch a lot of all channel **bleep**.
  Come on Roku Danny and Roku Mary, can you please address this KrAzYnEsS.
  And good luck to all you new Roku users.

  Can't type no more fingers are numb. Ugh. Lol darn Roku experimenting on us to improve it's product. Imagine what it will be like in another year. Double ugh choke and cough, hehem. Yuk to too much unnecessary improvement. More problem's.

  Please be aware that the Auto Favorites feature has been moved to the Recent Channels view. In addition, the All Channels view will no longer be ordered based on the channels in Auto Favorites.

    Auto Favorites? Recent Channels? We were asking why the Filter option to view Favorite Channels has been removed. When in Favorites it will not channel up or down with the selected favorite channels. It goes to the next channel in the full list and the guide reverts to “All Channels” every time channels are changed. Where is the selection to Manage Channels by Favorites? The work around posted to hide all of the non favorite channels isn't an option if you have pages of streaming channels.

In the last week or so the channel guide filter has stopped working properly. Every time the TV is turned off it resets to all channels. I continually filter it back to favorites but it is not staying on favorites.

  Mine resets every time I reopen Live TV, I don’t even turn the tv off and it resets back to all channels.

    Either something new is going on at Roku or my TV is broken. Several times after turning on my TV, nothing happens. It freezes in the Channel Guide. I can't change channels or do anything else. Turning it off and on doesn't solve the problem.
    I discovered that if I press the 'Home' button immediately after turning on the set and then selecting the 'Roku Channel', I can access the 'Live TV Channel Guide' that way.
    Has anyone else experienced this or is it my TV?

  Those guys at Roku must have nothing to do but to mess with us. Every time I turn on the TV I have to reset the menu to 'Favorites'. Why?? Today they reassigned a bunch of channel numbers. Why??

    Given how slow they are to address issues, makes me wonder if they get revenue every time a channel is viewed. Something has to be driving their decision to not address known issues.

The recent changes to the guide broke something that did not need to be fixed. The latest development is that any time you exit live tv the filter reverts back to all channels. Can there be an option to save the filter so that we can only stay on our favorites?

  Your exactly right. IT workers must be bored. Or no work for them. It always seems when a companies make something good. They won't make them anymore. But now they make up for it with stupid changes. They didn't give me a software update in months and it still screws up all the time. I dread they put an update uot they'll really be screwed up then. Other smart sticks are always good to have for backup, when roku randomly screws their product up. Demotions should be handed up or down to whomever decided to the changes.

    It has changed 3 times in the last month. None of them match the online guide instructions. While the favorites filter choice has returned on my TVs the setting is not saved and must be reselected every time you open the Live TV app

This happened for a long time before, but has been resolved for months - the channels no longer take into account my favorite choices (so I have to step through every intervening channel to get to the one I want).
This just happened today I believe.

  I am seeing the same problem. The Filter options selection for Favorites only, no longer exists. The only way to make this work with with streaming channels enabled is to hide every non-favorite channel (there are hundreds). My TV does not show an new update installed but the menus have changed. The Smart Guide now has an extra column on the left with show all channel, recent, and favorites. The guide seems to default to all channels whenever entering the guide.

  Mine stopped working 3 days ago. I’ve had this TCL TV since January 22. About one month ago the favorites menu appeared. Oh so that’s why you tag channels. Now it’s gone.

    Yeah, I was quite pleased with the new channel lineup that appeared rather recently. The channels were grouped by Favorite, Sports, News, All, etc. Now, that lineup has disappeared and it's back to the old total list.

I'm posting this here because I don't see any way to provide feedback directly to Roku.
1) With the latest system update, the search results appears as a horizontal row of tiles, with additional rows of tiles for popular movies, popular tv shows, etc. I prefer the previous layout, a vertical list of the program titles you've searched without the extraneous categories in the new layout. All I want is the list of searched titles.
2) And there should be a direct feedback channel to Roku.
3) Also, we should be able to delete programs from My Feed directly from My Feed, not by having to search for the programs again and deleting them from My Feed through the search results. Needlessly inefficient, takes time, and displaces recent search results you may want to keep.
If anyone knows of a way to provide direct feedback to Roku that I missed, please let me know about it.

Yes, that is the procedure. But why do I have to do it every time I tune in? It always opens up to ALL CHANNELS. It used to stay on the filter I chose last.

If this has been addressed, I've not been able to find it.
For the past couple of weeks, Live TV/The Roku Channel will no longer default to the favorites I've selected. I must use the filter to select favorites every time I go into the app, which is a bit annoying. I cannot imagine why this was changed. If I've selected selected specific channels as favorites, I do not want to now see all channels each time I start the app. Is anyone aware of a resolution?

  Still need to fix guide default setting. No fix in sight, they just tried patching with the update but it didn't work on all and was reverted back to .
  All channels. Default.
  The setting just won't stick. Boo hoo Roku.

During the last month, the channel guide changed from being able to choose select channels in a group, to "all channels" today. Other discussions have addressed this change and the original poster has prohibited those of us who WANT 'favorite channels' or 'recent channels' from joining the discussion. Can you bring back the original where you have a CHOICE? It's a waste of time having to scroll through all channels to find the select few I actually watch (plus I do not remember the channel numbers). It would be different if the remote actually had a way to key in channel numbers, but as is, it is frustrating!! Allow us a choice, please!

The new "update" has screwed the pooch by effectively eliminating a lock on Favorites. Perhaps the most inconvenient one yet. But I'm ahead of myself. I'm sure they will come up with even more annoying "improvements". Watching TV is now work. Cut the cord...BS!
