TCL Roku tv won’t connect to internet

Help please. I bought a 50 inch TCL Roku tv and it won’t connect to the internet. I’ve done all the disconnections and restarts recommended, I’ve got an excellent connection. I’m using the correct case on password. I’ve loaded updates through usb. I’ve double-checked the time zone. I’ve changed the ping thing.

im stumped. Any ideas?

  • Ditto, I've done everything you've done as well. I'm not even receiving an error code. What the heck happened to our tvs?!

    Hi JP56

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.

If you are getting an error code or message, refer to this link for common Roku error codes and their recommended actions: How to connect your Roku device to the internet using Wi-Fi or Ethernet

You can also try configuring your router and use wireless channels 1, 6, or 11 which are the preferred channels in North America. Each time you change the wireless channel, you will likely need to apply/save changes before you are prompted to restart the router.

Let us know if there's any difference after.

    All the best,
    Kariza

      Hi Drock1

      Welcome to the Roku Community!

If your TCL Roku TV is not connecting to the internet, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

      • Check that your Wi-Fi network is working properly. You can do this by connecting another device, such as a laptop or smartphone, to the same Wi-Fi network and verifying that it can access the internet.
      • Move your TCL Roku TV closer to your Wi-Fi router, if possible. A weak Wi-Fi signal could be the reason your TV is not connecting.
      • Restart your TCL Roku TV by going to "Settings" > "System" > "Power" > "System restart". This can help resolve minor connectivity issues.
      • Unplug your TCL Roku TV and Wi-Fi router for 1-2 minutes, then plug them back in and try connecting again.
      • Check that your TCL Roku TV is running the latest software version by going to "Settings" > "System" > "System update" > "Check now". If an update is available, install it and see if it resolves the issue.
      • Try resetting your TCL Roku TV to its factory settings by going to "Settings" > "System" > "Advanced system settings" > "Factory reset". Keep in mind that this will erase all settings and data on your TV, so make sure to back up any important data before resetting.
      • Contact your internet service provider to see if there is an issue with your connection.

      We hope it helps!

      Warm regards,
      Lianna

So I did all of those things by connecting to my phones hot spot.  TV says connected with excellent strength but then won’t open any apps and says it is not connected to a network. But it will work with my phones connection.  No problems with the wifi on any other devices.  Anything else I can do?
