stuck on channel update screen

I turned on my Onn. roku TV and it was showing to the setup screen from when I first got it- like picking language and location etc for some reason: no power out, or manual reset.

I tried to unplug it and waited 60 seconds to plug it back in. And I'm still back where I started- stuck on "channel update 1 of 67. Maximizing fun factor..." after it asks for email activation again.

I'm connected to the wireless internet. I can't plug in my TV to the router because it is in another room. It has been loading for 2 hours, still stuck on "1 of 67"

Is there a way to bypass the updates?
