Streambar & Cable TV Box (will it work)

I am having an issue that I hope someone can help solve.   I’ve connected the Roku Streambar HDMI Cable to the Xfinity Box.  I also have a HDMI cable connecting from Xfinity Cable box to the TV.  When I switch the audio sound to external speakers, there is no sound coming from the Roku streambar.
