Star on remote does not access options

I'm having the exact same problem right now....hitting star because I want to expand zoom...& It's doing nothing...This has happened before...but it's been awhile...

    For us to better understand the issue you're experiencing, it would be very helpful if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What channel are you watching?
    2. Are you making sure to press the * button during channel playback? 
    3. Can you provide a sample content/title in which you are seeing the problem occur?
