I’m a little confused. The Roku Express is over a year old but this just started happening? You say “after set up” – does that mean after a year, you set up the Roku for the first time? Or do you mean you had an existing Roku, but you added a new TV and just set up the TV?
I’m not sure how to interpret “off and on to Roku”. Is the TV turning off and on – and also switching its inputs from Roku to some other input?
And what set up is asking for numbers? The TV? On this one, if you’re doing TV setup, make sure you’re using the TV remote.
If you’re powering the Roku from the TV USB, trying powering it from an AC adapter to the wall. (Some TVs don’t supply enough power and/or turn their USB ports on and off.)
Did any of this happen prior to setting up the Roku remote to control the TV?
You can also try going to your Roku (if you can see it for that long) and go to settings -> system -> control other devices -> and turn off 1-touch play.
Sorry – quite a few ideas because I’ve never heard of anything quite like this and I’m not sure if I’m understanding it all.

I purchased a Sony Bravia during the 2023 football season, and set it up with ROKU. It shuts itself off for general tv broadcasts (local news) , but not during a game or movie. I saw the "guru" response to your inquiry, and turned off "one touch play", as suggested. While rummaging around, I went into Settings - System - Power - Auto Power Savings - Turn Off After 20 Minutes of No Interaction. I turned off the last option, and I'm hoping that this fixes the problem. If a 20 minute auto turn off is the default setting, that's really dumb; particularly so. because I also get an on-screen notice, asking about a shut down, following lengthy viewing, with no entries from the remote.

Does your Roku happen to be a voice control rechargeable? I too bought a Sony Bravia Google TV fall of 2023 and a new Roku with voice control and the automatic shut off in the middle of watching movies or TV shows began immediately. The Roku would talk to me and would hear something on the TV and change the channel responding to the TV. I disabled the voice control managed the automatic shut off time and it seemed to have resolved the problem for the last month but yesterday it began again for no reason. The TV would not even turn back on with the Roku device for about five minutes until it was unplugged and rebooted. I have considered purchasing a new Roku without the voice control but the fact that everything I read online is with the Sony Google TV I wonder if it’s a compatibility issue or a Sony issue or Roku or both and can’t seem to get any help from Roku or Sony
