Seemingly endless loop of update and restart

I have just bought a Roku Express 4K. I have spent the last hour in a loop in which I selecta language, connect to Wi-Fi, it checks for updates, says an update is available, downloads the update, restarts and then does the same thing at least a dozen times now. Is this normal and how many updates could there be?

    It's not normal.  It should only update and reboot once.  If you have it plugged into the TV's USB port, try using a USB power adapter plugged into the wall.

    Can you please help me I open Roku TCL TV and it's doing the same thing but it's also dimming off and on and it's driving me insane I can't do anything every time I connect to the internet it just updates and restarts and then on and on

      I did have it plugged into the USB port on the TV. I switched to the wall adapter and that solved the problem for me. Thank you for the suggestion.
