Screen Mirroring FROM a Roku TV to my laptop

I have a 2018 TCL Ruku 55" TV and sometimes I want to watch my DVR on my laptop but when I connect the two, it is only to mirror my laptop on the TV. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reverse that so I can see my TV on my laptop. I spent too many hours down the rabbit hole and don't know what I am missing. The information I have is that Roku uses Chromecast and I am using Windows 11. Can anyone explain how to reverse this? Thanks in advance!

  • Hi, tomlopez

    Thanks for reaching out.

As indicated by andyross, the only available feature is the ability to mirror the screen from a laptop to a Roku TV. It is important to note that this functionality does not support mirroring

Roku TVs primarily support screen mirroring, which allows you to display content from a phone, tablet, or computer onto the TV screen, but they do not support outputting the TV screen to other devices.

Hope this clarifies your concern. and let us know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,

  • It's not possible. Also, Roku does not support Chromecast. They support another casting protocol, which is why many Android phones cannot cast TO a Roku. Roku's are basically a cast TO device, and cannot send anything.
