Roku won't connect to TV?

Hello everyone, I have a Roku Express 4k+, I really enjoy it but now I have a new tv. I try to add it as a remote to control the volume and power, it tries all 4 tv codes but won't connect to any of them. Is my tv just unsupported to have the power/volume control? Thank you!
