Roku will not ask what type of connection in set up

Trying to set up new roku. It sees the wifi network. It allows me to click on the wifi.  It will not ask what type of internet connection or ask what password is.  It just checks both boxes with a green check (there is no hard wire connection), but is not connected.  Because of this, email is not being sent.
