Roku update 12.5 broke the Plex app

My Roku updated today and it’s now very slow. Plex is almost unusable even streaming from our local server. Has anyone else seen this issue?

  • Yes, my Roku was updated and the I had to update plex app.   Right now plex app on Roku is sluggish and unstable.

      In one of the recent replies to the Plex forum link I posted, a Plex employee stated that Roku would be releasing a build update in the next week or so to help address this issue. (messages 35/43 and 40/43).

      The Plex Employee stated they were able to confirm that the build update does resolve the issue.

        Thats great but all the changes programmers are making to better their products are rendering the application unstable and now dead in the water. 

  • One of my Roku ultras is having a similar problem and I have Stick with minimal issues and the app on my LG Oled is fine

    Yep, me too, discovered yesterday, unusable. Hoping for fix very quickly.

      I've also had this issue. I just did a system restart on my TV and as of right now, the Plex menu isn't lagging.

  • Same here. Plex crashes on my Roku TV from my local network at the start or end of many Plex shows as well as other Plex use. This is a recent issue. The whole TV is also much slower.

      Same here, started mid October, temporary fix is to turn off MPEG2 in the Plex settings. Not ideal, but it is a workaround.

        Unfortunately, turing MPEG2 off kills closed captions for me.
