Thanks for the response. Here's the info:
-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version
4660X -Roku Ultra
S/N: YJ008L071377
Device ID: CK38D8071377
OS Ver: 11.5.0 Build 4312
-When did you start seeing this issue occur, and troubleshooting steps:
We replaced our Samsung TV (UN55ES7150FXZA) with a new one (QN55Q60BDFXZA) and it happened shortly afterward. I blamed Samsung and finally returned the TV to the store and we bought another TV (QN55QN95BAFXZA). The problem is back. I have another Roku Box (4200X -Roku 3, 1GU47S103240) connected to a second older TV (UN55ES7150) that doesn't have the problem. I swapped Roku boxes -the problem moved to the older TV. When I couldn't get help from Roku (they blamed Comcast), I called Comcast and had them send out a tech to check the problem. It didn't happen when he was here, but he's checked all the wires and line signals, router, and moved my connection in their control center. My internet service tests fine at 200 MB on multiple online test sites. The problem remains. I believed the problem may be wi-fi related, so I ran ethernet wires to both Roku boxes. No change.
-Were you previously able to control your TV volume and power.
I can use the TV remote or Roku box to control the volume and power. I changed batteries in the Roku boxes -no change.
My conclusion: Problem is in the Roku Ultra 4660X. Any help you can offer will be appreciated...
Roku replied some time ago that they're working on the problem. They're not. Against my better judgement, I replaced my TV (a second time) to see if the problem would go away -it hasn't. I am very disappointed in the roku box -and I'm even more tired of their poor service.

Any update on this “investigation”? I have been having this issue with my TCL Roku TV for months and watching this thread for a possible fix/solution for weeks…. I don’t use the TV remote I use the Roku app on my IPhone so taking the batteries out is not a solution.

We have only had the Roku streaming stick 4k for about a month and this problem came up a couple of days ago. I think it has something to do with the voice activated feature. My wife accidentally hit that button and the next time we turned on the Roku the volume was at 100. It caused me to have a hearing incident which raised my already bad tinnitus to rage for hours. Not fun. It's really frustrating that Roku doesn't take this seriously. We may have to abandoned Roku all together. Do you by chance know of another streaming service like Roku?

There's always an Amazon Fire Stick which is what my younger daughter and her husband use. They're happy with that.

Hi EffDubs,
Thanks for your first post in the Roku Community!
Could you try to restart your Roku device and put the batteries back in the remote to see if there's any difference after? We would recommend doing the restart from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.) > System restart.
If not resolved, kindly provide us the details requested posted by RokuDanny-R above.
Keep us posted.
Regards,
