Roku Ultra operating inconsistently through HDMI switch

We’ve used switches before with our Roku sticks with no problem. Bought a Roku Ultra for our living room, hooked it up to the switch and have inconsistent results. Sometime everything is fine; other times, there is nothing but snow on the screen.  Other devices (like our DVD player) are working through the switch so not sure why this inconsistency. If I hook it up directly to the TV, everything is fine. Any ideas for how to figure out what is causing problem?

    When you see the "snow", does pressing the Home button a couple of times on the Roku remote help to wake up the Roku device and make the snow disappear?
