Roku Ultra 4K (2018) CEC not working with Insignia FireTV

We have 2 Insignia Fire TVs in an RV.

I have a newly purchased Roku Express 4K+ with voice remote that I installed on one of them.   That one I can configure for CEC operation and that works great.

 

I have an older Roku Ultra (2018) with enhanced remote.  That one I have not been able to get CEC to work.  IR control does work, but was hoping to get CEC working on both.

Since the TVs are the exact same model I would have expected both of them to work the same.

Is this likely to be an issue with the older Roku Ultra?  If not other suggestions on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

    Have you tried the working remote/Roku device on the TV that doesn't work?

      Yes, just did that this morning.

      The one that works with the front TV doesn't work with CEC on the TV in the bed area either, so it would appear that it is something with the Insignia TV.   I double checked and the model numbers and software versions are all the same so I'll try contacting Insignia to see what they have to say.

        I found the culprit.

        The HDMI cable that I was using with the older Roku appears to not support CEC.

        I got to thinking that was one thing I hadn't swapped when I tested with the newer Roku this morning. So I grabbed the HDMI cable that came with the newer Roku and tried that.

        Problem solved, so both TVs are now working with CEC control.

        Something to keep in mind if anyone else has a similar problem.  Try a new HDMI cable.
