I am having the same issue with my 4640X.
When I turned on the TV today, it showed the Recovery Mode screen. I entered my WiFi info then selected Update. After it rebooted, it got stuck in the bouncing logo loop for a long time. Then the Recovery screen displayed again. This time I selected Factory Reset but that also started the looping over again.
I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps listed in this discussion and none helped.

After singing 9000 bottles of roku restarts , take one down , share it around, I have found this thread and disconnecting all wires ( do not use sd card) and letting it sit a bit helped. I then hold the button down while plugging back in and did a factory reset hard wired , not wifi , downloading updated OS. Now I get to merrily set it all up again. Who says Roku doesn't have Christmas spirit lol.
