Roku TV will not respond to either mDNS or SSDP queries.

My Roku TV does not respond to either mDNS or SSDP queries when attempting to wake it. It's currently running software version 14.5.4.

Under normal operation, I can see frequent mDNS packets and occasional SSDP messages in Wireshark. During this state, I'm able to control the TV using the Roku mobile app without any issues. I can successfully send and receive SSDP messages to obtain the device name and IP address, and I’m also able to send ECP commands.

However, once the TV enters its low-power state, the situation changes:

  • The Roku app is no longer able to communicate with the TV, even if I use the physical remote to turn the TV back on and stream videos as normal.

  • Wireshark shows that mDNS traffic becomes extremely sparse, appearing roughly once every 3 minutes or less.

  • SSDP messages are sent only sporadically — sometimes 9 are sent together, but very infrequently.

This behavior suggests that once the ROK TV enters low-power mode, it severely limits its network activity, making it essentially undiscoverable or unresponsive via mDNS/SSDP — even after being turned on via the remote.
