Roku Tv has to be unplugged from outlet and replugged back in to get it to work

Has been happening for several days now. Used to experience this with roku player. Much more of a pain now that it is the whole tv. Anyway to stop it?

  • Thanks for the response, BOO7.

In this case, we recommend restarting the system on your Roku TV to see if that helps resolve the problem.

To restart, please navigate to Settings System Power System restart (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).

If the issue persists, we suggest turning off auto power savings by navigating to Settings > System > Power > Auto Power savings Uncheck the box next to After 20 minutes of no interaction.

Feel free to keep us posted on how it goes, and we'll continue assisting you from there.

    All the best,
    Chel

    Hi BOO7

Thanks for the first post to the Roku Community!

We'd be more than happy to look into this further. For us to help you better, we will ask a set of questions to isolate the issue:

    • What Roku device are you using right now? (e.g., Roku Express, Roku Streambar, Roku TV—specify TV)
    • When did you notice the issue start?
    • Are there any changes in the setup or settings of your Roku device or your network provider that might cause the problem?
    • Are you receiving error messages or codes when accessing the channel?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to resolve the issue?

To confirm, do you have a Roku streaming device attached to your Roku TV?

With more information, we'll be able to assist you further.

    All the best,
    Chel

43" Roku Select Series 4K TV.  Has been happening for about 1 week. No changes. No error message. Does not happen all the time. About once every 2 out of 3 days. I unplug the tv from the electrical wall outlet and plug it back in.

I feel very sure there was a Roku update that has caused this. I have the same issue with my TCL Roku TV. The TV powers on, audio is there from my Set top box but the screen is blank. I wrote down the key presses for a restart as mentioned above on a piece paper and when it happens now I just use that paper to make the proper key presses to get to the restart command. TV restarts and picture is there.

My issue started back in September 2024 too. This is what makes me think it a bug in one of the Roku OS updates.

I have the same issue. New Roku Stick, just updated when I set it up.
